Defending NBA 2K League Champions return for their second season with six weeks of remote gameplay
Minneapolis-St. Paul – T-Wolves Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves, today announced the team’s schedule for the first six weeks of regular-season matchups. T-Wolves Gaming will begin their title defense on Thursday, May 7 against Hawks Talon GC at 6:00 p.m. CT.
T-Wolves Gaming’s schedule is highlighted by a NBA 2K 2019 Finals rematch against 76ers Gaming on May 15 as well as a matchup on May 27 with Gen.G Tigers, who are in their inaugural season of the NBA 2K League and mark the first 2K League team outside of North America.
Over the course of the six weeks of remote gameplay, each team is scheduled to play at least eight matches that will count toward its regular-season record. Each match will be played in a best-of-three format, which will allow the NBA 2K League broadcast to switch between games in real-time and give fans more opportunities to experience the league’s most exciting moments. Each three-game-series victory will represent one regular-season win, and each three-game-series loss will represent one regular-season loss.
The 2020 season will once again include three in-season tournaments (THE TIPOFF, THE TURN and THE TICKET), in which teams compete for banners that link together to form THE BANNER CHAIN powered by AT&T. All 23 teams will compete in THE TIPOFF and THE TURN. The 14 teams that are not one of the top nine playoff seeds will compete in THE TICKET, which will see the winning team earn the 10th and final spot in the 2020 NBA 2K League Playoffs. In addition, select NBA 2K League teams will host rivalry matches and round-robin events. The remainder of T-Wolves Gaming 2020 season schedule and structure, including the dates of tournaments, rivalry matches and round-robin events, will be shared as information becomes available.
On February 22, T-Wolves Gaming participated in its second NBA 2K League draft at Terminal 5 in New York City. The team completed its six-man roster by selecting Xavier “Big Saint” St. James and Christopher “Detoxys” Doyle. Big Saint and Detoxys join Mihad “Feast” Feratovic, Michael “BearDaBeat” Key, Jordan “JMoney” Martinez, and Josiah “JoJo” Oetjen. T-Wolves Gaming is led by Head Coach and General Manager, Justin Butler and Assistant Coach Nicholas Gartrelle.
All game will be games simulcast live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTubechannels.
