T-Wolves Gaming to Participate in THE TIPOFF Tournament on ESPN2

NBA2K League also announces extension of remote gameplay through Week 11 

Minneapolis-St. Paul – T-Wolves Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves, will participate in the first in-season tournament of the 2020 season, which begins tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16. The TIPOFF will air on ESPN2, ESPN’s digital platforms and on the league’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

The tournament will consist of two days of remote pool play (June 16 and 17) to determine the eight teams who will advance to the playoffs, which will be held June 18 to June 19. Each team will play four games in pool play, competing against two other teams in its group twice. T-Wolves Gaming will play two games each against Cavs Legion GC and Hornets Venom GT on Wednesday, June 17. See below for T-Wolves Gaming’s full remote pool play schedule.

At the conclusion of pool play, the seven teams with the best records in each group as well as one wild card entrant will advance to the playoffs. All 23 teams will compete for a total prize pool of $160,000. The winner of THE TIPOFF will earn nearly half of the prize pool, with the remainder awarded to the runner-up, third- and fourth- place finishers (first place – $70,000; second place – $50,000; third and fourth place – $20,000 each). In addition to prize money, THE TIPOFF powered by AT&T is the first of three in-season tournaments (THE TIPOFF, THE TURN and THE TICKET) in which teams compete for banners that link together to form THE BANNER CHAIN powered by AT&T.

The NBA2K also announced an extension of remote gameplay for the regular season through Week 11 (ending July 17). The gameplay schedule for T-Wolves Gaming will be released at a later date.
