Minneapolis/St. Paul – T-Wolves Gaming, the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA 2K League affiliate team, capped off its successful inaugural season by winning the 2019 NBA 2K League Championship in New York by defeating 76ers GC 3-2 in the best-of-five series. For winning the Championship, T-Wolves Gaming receives a first-place prize of $360,000. 76ers GC takes home $120,000 as runner-up. Michael “BearDaBeast” Key was named MVP of the Championship series.
T-Wolves Gaming players are Christopher “TURNUPDEFENSE” Anderson, Mihad “FEAST” Feratovic, Michael “BearDaBeast” Key, Jordan “JMoneyRep817” Martinez, Josiah “Dr_ JoJo_30” Oetjen and Brian “Nacho” Traynor. They were led by interim head coach Justin Butler.
In Game 1, BearDaBeast scored a career-high 32 points, including 22 in the first half, and added 10 assists to lead T-Wolves Gaming to a 71-36 win. It was the 12th consecutive win for T-Wolves Gaming. Game 2 saw 76ers GC even the series at 1-1 and snap T-Wolves Gaming’s winning streak with a 70-23 win. In Game 3, T-Wolves Gaming took a 2-1 series lead with a 56-47 victory. BearDaBeast scored 23 points and added eight assists. Dr_ JoJo_30 had 11 points and six rebounds and FEAST added 10 points and four steals. In Game 4, 76ers GC closed out the fourth quarter on a 13-2 run to claim a 53-46 win and force a deciding Game 5. BearDaBeast led T-Wolves Gaming with 16 points and nine assists and FEAST added 13 points. In Game 5, T-Wolves Gaming claimed the title with a 52-35 victory. BearDaBeast led the scoring with 23 points and six assists. Dr_ JoJo_30 had 12 points and seven rebounds and FEAST added nine steals.
T-Wolves Gaming came into the NBA 2K League Playoffs as the No. 4 seed and advanced to the Finals courtesy of series sweeps over Kings Guard Gaming (2-0) and Warriors Gaming Squad (2-0).
